Woven Wire-on by the Yard (multiple qty for continuous)

Woven wire-on — also called wired-on or hidem welt — is a flat vinyl or cloth strip with two thin wires sewn along its edges. Tack or staple through the center, then fold the wired edges over to cover the fasteners, leaving a tidy ridge with nothing exposed.

  • Used at the rear window surround, package tray, or anywhere a tacked headliner edge would otherwise show
  • Sold by the yard — order the number of yards you need and they ship as one continuous length

Wire-on or windlace? Wire-on is cosmetic finishing over tacked edges. Windlace seals and finishes the door openings. Many cars use both, though later steel-bodied cars with metal garnish moldings often use windlace only.

Windlace for Bows Style Headliner

Windlace is a round cord — cotton, foam or paper core — wrapped in matching vinyl or cloth. It runs around the door openings along the A, B and C pillars and roof rail, hiding the raw edge of a bow-style headliner and sealing against the door to cut wind noise and drafts. Made to match original factory patterns, fit and appearance.

  • Stitched windlace tacks or staples to the tack strip; vinyl snap-on pushes onto the pinchweld
  • 7 yards suits a typical 2 door vehicle; 14 yards suits a 4 door
  • Check whether your body uses a tack strip or a pinchweld before choosing a style

Windlace or wire-on? Windlace seals and finishes the door openings. Woven wire-on covers tacked headliner edges where no molding exists. Many cars use both.
